The NFL protest a couple of weeks ago was 'meta' in that sense

Most of the players and staff who protested two weeks ago were expressing support for colleagues who were criticised for taking a knee to oppose police brutality, rather than protesting the brutality themselves. Most of them went back to standing like normal last week.
