In what way has socialism failed in Cuba?

It remains by far the most socially progressive country in North America. Despite decades of isolation and incredible external pressure to allow multinationals into the country who would cream off a good % of the GNP.

- Universal free health care & higher life expectancy than USA.
- Education (including school uniforms and meals) free for entire population, including university.
- Literacy rate of 99.8% (higher than USA)
- A constitution which allows politicians at all levels to be replaced.
- Highest number of doctors per residents in the world
- Universal housing
