Is the typical target Tory voter more or less likely to be:
(a) a recipient of social housing who needs better stock
(b) a recipient of housing benefit in need of cheaper rental properties
(c) an owner of a BTL benefitting directly or indirectly from the boost to rents that a shortage of social housing leads to
(d) an aspiring FTB/upgrading homeowner who needs a little bit of help with the next purchase
(e) an existing homeowner who doesn't want to lose equity in their property (given the impact on LTVs at remortgage time etc)
(f) a retiree who benefits from high property prices to release equity to fund lifestyle or care home costs
It's only a s**t policy if you're not looking at it from a "will it get us re-elected?" viewpoint.
(Your (3) is unaffected either way as those housebuilders stand to benefit just as much from OG's £10bn of social housing - someone has to build the houses.)
