Also worth noting ...

A) he didn't know klose and Pritchard would get Crocked during pre season
B) he presumably didn't know martin would have a flare up of his Colitis
c) stiepermann and trybull 2 key signings weren't fit (certainly trybull) and stiepermann needed a period of adjustment.
