Teutonic Tom was man of the match for me; in the midst of most things, breaking up play and pretty good with the simple short pass and the more creative long ball... à la Josh's goal.
Brentford offered about as much resistance as the nylon sheets of the same name, and certainly none of the same sparks! Albeit this was a much changed side, you could see why they haven't won this season. That said, City were good value and were never in Trybull (see what I did there?) From the moment Barbett's penalty went 'buzzing' over the bar, over the stand, and possibly over a passing Airbus on approach to Heathrow, City looked like they would progress and the question was whether we could score more than one.
Vrancic's free kick was sweet as a nut and Josh finished well after a great through ball from the aforementioned Trybull-maker. Stupid late slip meant the holy grail of a 4th clean sheet slipped away but nevertheless an enjoyable night in West a London for all concerned... of a yellow and green persuasion.
I suspect Saturday's encounter will be a tougher test but we have some momentum, some confidence and some battling team spirit - bring 'em on!
