Newbie. Longish post. Shoot me down :-)

So, lived in Norwich for 12 years and not being able to get to my home town club too easily these days I thought it was time to get a Carrow Rd ST. Seen the occasional game here down the years but never been a regular. Joined the waiting list in February and delighted to get the ST a mere 7 weeks later. Neil out, Farke in - what a great jumping-on point with, to boot (I like my politics), a little topical EU/Brexit edge to it, what with all the Germans.

Bit miffed losing 1-3 to Sunderland at my first home game but hey, they're fresh out of the Prem. Then I see three home league games in which we win two, draw one and concede no goals. Throw in two home cup wins and, despite the loss, two away goals at Villa I'm thinking, Millwall apart, this new yellas stiff is just great. OTBC. Bought the shirt. Saw the U23s. Scarf all ready for the autumn.

But then I go online and read the press. Twitter. Canary Call. Davitt. TCN. Pinkun. A big chunk of Wotb.

I thought I'd started supporting a usually above-average club with sound finances and a bunch of players combining seasoned Championship/Prem veterans and eager new Europeans who were (probably, but you never know) going to stay up comfortably and put on a few shows along the way. Good times would be mixed with less good but, football being football, it seemed right to pitch my expectations there or thereabouts.

Go online and it turns out I'm supporting a pile of poo with a new manager some have already decided isn't up to it.

Appreciate I don't have the years under my belt to compare this season (just six games in!) with the top flight/promotion seasons of yore, but it wasn't too long ago I was in the away end here enjoying (told you I'm originally out-of-county; sorry) a 7-1 reverse for Norwich on the first day of that particular season.

We (this is now my club; I can say 'we') are in a much better place than then, so I'm puzzled by sections of the fanbase writing this season off already, even promotion in the next few years. I personally think things will come really good under the Webberlution... in time. But either way, there's no entitlement to success. Just look at this week's oppo; they're a similar size club who've just escaped League One at the fourth (fifth?) attempt.

Footie wouldn't be footie without fan-on-club pressure, obvs, but I hope the strength of criticism I've seen in some quarters won't be the season's norm.

I'm going for a 2-1 away win tomorrow with Ched Evans getting red-carded.
