was once told (or read) that a stockbroker needs to make a profit of 10x the level of any previous loss for the respective emotional impact to balance out (ie euphoria of winning your money back doesn't cancel out the gloom from losing it in the first place)
You see that on here - the board is dead after a win in an ordinary league match, with few positive vibes and virtually no one giving praise or expressing happiness, but it's absolutely froth-tastic after a defeat or poor draw.
