He played that role, but he (like every other footballer) had freedom to move. So he was central, he was left, he was right, he was behind Oli, he was ahead of Oli, he was deep. From what I can remember, he was central more than Vrancic. If Wes had been on his game, the Wes+Vrancic partnership would have looked totally different.
Last night was poor, but shouldn't be the basis for any facile judgements like "Wes can't play with Vrancic"
