The change in roaming is easy to work out if you think of it as

that you pay the same charges for doing the same thing from the UK. So a call between two British numbers anywhere within the EU is the same price as if they were both in UK. However calling a French number from a British phone will be an international call regardless of where you are.

Of course once brexit hapoens you'll probably be back to the old roaming everywhere in Europe
