Although in our games this season we deserved to hammer someone - didn't expect it to come today.
We played really well, and yet Norwich looked pretty good - if you can ignore their defence. For the first 10 minutes i thought we could be on the end of a hammering. But we worked hard. We know how to play against possession based sides as we play against them more often than not.
We were clinical today, something we haven't been all season. We also defended incredibly well against the best attacking side I've seen so far this season.
We really needed that going into the international break. It will be good for confidence and for the players. They can compete at this level. It should hold no fear for them.
Norwich can and will only get better - we probably played to the best of our ability today. Come the end of the season there will be a huge points difference between us. They look to me like a side managed by someone that doesn't know this division or even football at this level. You start the second half 3-0 down - why do you continue to just knock the ball around at the back? You've had a whole half to realise that we're just going to let you play with it. We had 28% possession!! And won 4-0 and still created the better chances in the second half.
Possession football is great if you have a cutting edge or you are pulling teams apart. Possession football passing along your back line is not going to get you anywhere. Technically gifted players, way above us in ability - as they should be, as i'm sure they all cost many millions of pounds each, but poorly set up.
