Just back from the pub and have been discussing tomorrow's game with Villa fans (I live on the fringe of the West Mids so there's a few of them in my local but only one of me!). Fairly obviously they hope to win the match as they are at home, but it is more they hope to win than expect to win. They exhibit the same negative vibes about their side and the match that we often do. They do expect to come good at some point soon but they doubt it will be tomorrow. There is respect for City, mainly as we have been a regular opponent for them at both Prem and Championship level for many years. A few other points that we discussed
a) They know little or nothing about DF and the German Revolution at Carrow Rd. Most thought Irvine was still in charge.
b) Steve Bruce (probably unfairly) is under considerable pressure. Viĺla fans recognise they have had too many managers recently - Tim Sherwood, Remi Garde, Roberto Do Matteo - and that they have to give a manager more time. However they won't / can't do with that with Bruce as he used to manage Birmingham City. Sound familiar?
c) In retrospect they now realise what a good job Paul Lambert did at Villa Park, though at the time they certainly didn't see it that way. Again, sound familiar....
