that snakes along Gentleman's Walk, up Guildhall and then in front of City Hall, and then up Bethal St. The pens are colour coordinated with your bib number colour. That way the whippets at the front go off, then they open the next pen, containing the next few hundred quickest folks, who saunter down to the start, and start running. And the pens open in sequence like that. There's a couple of thousand more runners this year than last, which means even more spectators and that, and it was *f**king busy* around City Hall/Forum/St. Pete's/Bethal St, so I can only imagine it'll be absolute bedlam his year. Be prepared - leave any stuff you have with Mrs W rather than using the baggage busses on Bethal St.
At the end you'll be encouraged to keep moving from the finish line in front ofCity Hall up St. Giles, where there will be a series of people handing stuff out - goody bags and medals and that. I cannot remember for the life of me if the medal is given away separately to the goody bag or not. Some races just chuck the medal in the bag and give it away as a oner, and others hand them out separately. I've done that many I can't remember how Run Narge do it.
Seriously though, don't just stop moving at the finish, your body won't thank you for it, and neither will the people finishing behind you. I usually turn left off St. Giles up that alley that leads out to the police station on Bethal St. and then find a quiet spot to do stretch and drink some water.
