Or it's also quite easy to walk to Craven Cottage from Hammersmith on the Piccadilly line

Which I think is direct from Kings Cross.

Once there just walk down Fulham Palace Road and turn right to Ground or head to the river and take the riverside walk in east direction. Nice pub with huge beer garden about halfway to the ground on latter route if the weather decent.
