I think there has been a bit of a disconnect between the youth system and the first team though.

And he has spent a fair bit of time out on loan.

Perhaps I didn't choose my words quite as I should have done, but he didn't feel like a club hero after the one season, but he might have done after 2. That might be more what I mean.
