I like the idea that the football club pays its debts. Similarly sized clubs, like Portsmouth, Leicester & 1p5wich have regarded it as all fine & dandy to drive local suppliers out of business. It isn't.
I like the idea that the football club owns its ground. There has been much crowing recently that Leeds now own their ground again. They don't. Separating ownership of ground and club is almost always a recipe for disaster.
I like the idea that a business actually breaks even. There's something fundamentally flawed about an industry where success can only be obtained at massive financial loss.
These mega-rich owners are all well & good. But... where are 1p5wich going to be in the league? Or Forest? And that's if you're lucky enough to have a rich owner who puts money in rather than asset-stripping the club.
Delia & Michael have made some huge mistakes, but, on the whole I'd prefer them to a gun-runner or a convict in Hong Kong.
