The reason the Prem and the Champs are becoming more competitive is because despite how much is spent, no one can guarantee the £40m sure thing from La Liga is anymore likely to succeed than the £8m bargain from Rotherham or whatever. Burnley and Huddersfield, for example proved this last season.
