why's it so hard to believe he wanted to go anyway?

he probably thought there's absolutely f**k all chance of a pay rise under the current regime and is now at a stage of his career where most players look to cash up as much as possible.

We know he's a tight-arse as stated by various players, so why is it so unbelievable that he's motivated by money?
