You may recall a few weeks ago that I requested the kind collective wisdom of the Roth to come up with a name for a prospective champion racehorse.
You didn't let me down in your suggestions, but eventually we decided upon a name that wasn't put forward on this magnificent message board.
What I couldn't reveal straight after our dinner meeting, but can now, is that the horse in question was named 'Expediate'.
His very first run was at an evening meeting at Goodwood a fortnight ago. He ran very green, as you'd expect from a horse new to the cut and thrust of the racetrack... but came in a respectable fifth. Out of seven horses.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway... Expediate is about to go in his second race, the 1.50pm at Great Yarmouth. His odds have drifted from 18/1 at race declaration to 40/1 at present. A lot to do with unknowns about a new horse, but the trainer has a great record with first-time/early-run horses, so I have lumped an E/W on just in case!
Under starters orders in 15 minutes. Go Expediate, go!
