course he won't sign the no doubt pathetic post parachute payments terms we will have offered him (if indeed we've offered him anything) but it's also highly unlikely we won't be able to sell him next summer if we don't go up albeit admittedly for a bit less.

Applying your logic we may as well sell all of our good players as they are all likely to be costing us similar sums.
