Having read your article it grabbed my attention on M.S. Having lived in Tottenham in the 80s (but lived in Norfolk in 70s) as a City fan. I was discussing with my school friend on the bus about Norwich's 90th minute equaliser by Roger Gibbons (remember him, our super sub ?) at Orient the night before (which I didn't go to) and bigging up Norwicb's great performance when from behind a guy tapped me on the shoulder and said 'it wasn't that good'. As the conversation continued it was the great man 'Maurice Sills' which unknown to me was a friend of my dad's but I didn't know that. Due to this chance meeting I went to many Norwich matches with him and his infectious personality made it more enjoyable. I also visited him at St. Paul's Cathedral where he was a tour guide and on one occasion when I asked the steward where he was working, I had the same reply as you 'Any friend of Maurice is a friend of ours...and showed me to where he was. After tagging myself onto the back of the group, and despite his Cathedral duties, I heard him constantly talk about his beloved NCFC to American, Chinese tourists alike. Even if you hated football you couldn't help but be captivated by him! From London to Norwich everyone loved him and was inspired by him. 40yrs on I still remember those days with fondness. As you say KentonCanary, he was a true gent of football.
