You've done the right thing. Once you've passed childhood tooth care you are better off (literally and metaphorically) only going when problems arise. There is nothing preventative so they'll either find fault with things which have been chomping along quite nicely, offer you various cosmetic upgrades in the manner of a used car salesman suggesting the leather seats.

Having said all that I have a broken tooth at present which I've done nothing about. But prompted by said broken tooth having been one item supposedly improved in a 6k expenditure a couple of years ago.

And I'm supposed to go to a specialist for root canal treatment.
