Course we should make buildings safer and

I hope and am sure that will be the consequence of this horrific incident. That and renewed resolve to properly resource our fire and police services who have repeatedly shown their heroism of late.

However in the case of this particular incident I just think it's premature (at the moment) to blame austerity (which personally I think has been overdone in recent years) when clearly something unusual has caused the fire to spread up this building incredibly quickly and contrary to all the design safeguards meaning all the usual safeguards, systems and protocols failed. Indeed it could turn out to be the millions of pounds of works done to this building recently that actually were the major contributing factor!

So I remain of the view that the likes of Harman should stop trying to score political points over this so soon whilst bodies still remain undiscovered in the building. Let the investigations take place and punish anyone found to be negligent.
