Hmmm, I'm not so sure

I was speaking a couple of years ago to a Surveyor where I work about modern methods of construction and he said they are absolutely safe, pass all building regs absolutely no issue with them...... until people start to live in them.
And then people cut a hole for a new electric socket, for a plasma TV on the wall or hang up pictures and from there, the property is compromised.

If a fire were to start in a flat it can get out into the cavity, where often insulation is present which is flammable and the fire shoots around the building, potentially popping out into other flats where 'holes' have been made into walls. It's very difficult for the brigade to extinguish as they can't get to it, it's out of sight so don't actually know where seats of fire are and it spreads so quickly.

He said whilst properties pass building regs / inspections and all that when first constructed, he bet they wouldn't pass the tests if they were put against the same test criteria a couple of years later.
