In my experience the tube is very efficient. It's the bit filtering into the tube station

which takes a while if the stadium is full. Police horses holding back the crowd until the station is ready to take the next load of people.

Is don't quite well although I didn't feel particularly comfortable in the crowd when being held up by the police.
