Last season we was running at a £9m deficit because the parachute payments don't cover all of the income we have lost. The sale of the players you mentioned have probably covered the deficit.
Wildshut cost a few quid and Dijks wouldn't have been cheep in regards to wages and loan fee.
The release of some high earners will help balance the books for next season but it's our final year of parachute payments, which aren't massive.
We still have some real big earners on the books. If you believe the internets then Naismith is supposed to be on £50k a week, which seems likely as his transfer to Blunderland fell through on personal terms. Getting rid of him would help matters.
Personally I don't want to see us up to our eyeballs in debt, I've already got shares from previous financial mismanagement and can't afford to buy anymore. The crash of ITV digital didn't help matters.
I not advocating the Doomcaster days of prudence with ambition, I just want us to balance the books and not piss money away on players who are either not upto standard or are only here because we pay well.
