Both their eponymous debut & Contra have sat on my ever-expanding list since release...

...But much like most things in life I never got round to picking them up. At the time I was into The Kabeedies, a Norwich band who would cite VW as huge influences in their interviews. It was the only band the four of them could agree on, so would always be on in their tour van. Like VW I loved their energy & joy and got deep into them. And by deep I mean DEEEEEP. Japanese imports off partially translated Japanese websites deep. Every single release deep. Drunkenly chatting to their manager at the merch table deep. Recording sessions off Norwegian radio deep. Having young crowd members mock my drunken dancing but not caring deep. They were my gateway band into the Norwich scene. I love them for that and for what they matured into (now an all-male four piece, Keep Up). They made me want to dance and smile and I need those things... :-)
