funnily enough, last night I was doing some reading about Fred West and I was interested to see that he apparently suffered a serious blow to the head when he was 17, after which his behaviour changed, possibly resulting in a loss of empathy among other things.

It wouldn't be a surprise to find that Brady and other serial killers had had similar injuries or 'natural' abnormalities that altered their behaviour from the norm
