I had a problem after swimming long distances and GP assumed it was an infection caused by the water and kept treating me with antibiotic drops. Eventually saw a specialist who couldn't see any evidence of an infection (and I don't think was overly impressed I was continually given ear drops) and diagnosed this:-

The only symptoms I get is the blocked ear feeling. No pain fortunately. I think its caused by the repetition of the breathing action in front crawl. Still get it from time to time but never seems such a problem now I know what it is. Can last from a few hours to a week then just goes.
Hope it helps.
