is that West Brom haven't had a memorable season (you know, one that you'll be talking about in 20 years time) since the one in which they got promoted. They've survived, usually comfortably, but there's no glory or fun in it whatsoever.
Financially being mid-table Prem is being hugely successful for a mid-sized club but that doesn't alter the fact that your role is that of "opponent", someone for the big glamour boys to play against. As a fan experience it is somewhat lacking.
