michael carrick when asked what fergs biggest influence was that he (ferg) didn't do much tactics he left that up to carlos whatshisname but the ferg used his presence to motivate the team, not slag them off belittle them but big them up. In one pre-season speech the ferg got the squad together and off pat spoke about each players parents, how hard they'd worked and the sacrifices they'd made to get their kids to where they were. Carrick said that his attention to detail and respect lifted the group to gladitorial levels. Lambert a very poor mans ferg but there we go, glad to have had him but taking the piss out of your team players is a bit classless.
