I always vote tactically if it makes sense where I am at the time

Voting is not an expression of one's personal tribe(tm). It's a political act in a political context. If my views have no hope of being fully represented given the reality of where I am, of course I will vote for whoever might have a shot of winning even though I disagree with them on several things.

Of course to an extent this entrenches hopelessness for my actual views because people won't vote that way until enough other people do and who's going to go first. However I still think given the imperfect system we have it's the best option (I'm very much pro PR, though not the AV system that was rightly voted down a few years back).
