he TALKS about passing the ball on the ground but he has no appreciation of the sort of players and tactics required to achieve this, hence he puts out teams that can't do it regardless of what he says. 4-3-3 is a long ball formation because it lacks the central midfielders necessary to play a short passing game (Chelsea play a sort of 4-3-3 for example, and are easily the most most 'long ball' of the big clubs)
