A lovely local resident lady was spraying from her driveway late on yesterday, so that was a welcome if brief relief.
Shortly before her there was a group of four women sat in garden furniture by the road side giving it the full beans with ramped-up support. I didn't spot any glasses of vino by their feet but they were making a day of it and were most welcome too!
I'd like to tackle the full marathon at least once but the idea of doing double yesterday's efforts scares me, not least the added distance needed in training. I'd have no clue there and would be best reading up beforehand (long way off considering entering any as yet).
Totally understand your training fears as being a footballer I constantly have that issue balancing a combative, unpredictable, uneven, competitive team sport (footy) with solo, steady, predictable, rhythmical athletic casual pursuits (runs & rides). I'm usually carrying knocks in footy and expect to get more each time. I like to think it makes my joints stronger not weaker though but I may be kidding myself. I've seen the damage hereditary arthritis is doing to both my little mum and massive dad and that steels me to get the most out of my body before it falls apart. My knees will finish the footy eventually, but hopefully I'll be able to keep the running & riding going for decades to come.
