cheers bungle

Yeah the rise tucked behind the corner after the final water station was the worst bit for me; a real mind over matter moment to keep my feet shuffling forwards. I had a look at my Garmin once passed the 12mi marker just inside the showground and had a rather optimistic notion that suddenly being able to do a four minute mile would put me in pb contention (remains at 1:41) ! ! The surge you get from a large cheering crowd lifted my pace considerably but I couldn't hold it for the full mile of cruel s-bends back away from the crowds & finish-line.

Yes totally mate, you did it, that's what counts.

Feeling the effects of the sun on my poor old baldy bonce now! Walking all day in the sunny Chiltern Hills this week turned out to be good relaxed prep for the heat but there's only so much a ginge can take! Loads new freckles on top now!
