it's about keeping the floodgates closed

it's about teaching kids (and their parents) that there is more to life than ME ME ME and that sometimes you just have to accept that the greater good trumps individual circumstances

There is already discretion for Heads to authorise absences. They know better than us parents how to manage their schools.
