I think you're right in that they don't rank as highly(/lowly) as the expectations were just as low as the standard.
Apathy-wise, I actually had a nice time not getting worked up about yet another poor away display - which then jarred against all the playground bulls**t I've been catching up with on here. I found out when my game finished (2pm KO) via a teammate checking his phone for the scores that we were one down at half time. No surprise, shrugged it off, said no more. Biked home, missus had the radio on but I didn't hurry through to catch the remainder of the second half, instead I sorted my bike & footy gear & the washing out leisurely. Whilst in the kitchen I didn't even ask her to turn it up so I could hear it better. Silly red? No surprise. Poor direct second? No surprise. Was pleased at full-time that we were now one game closer to the end of this season. Didn't leave radio on for Canary Call as no-one's gonna have anything new to say on the matter. Didn't start reading Wrath posts until gone half eight this evening as had other stuff to sort (off on hols tomorrow so was busy packing). Did watch the Championship highlights with a beer from the offy as I wanted to watch some footy (especially to catch Fleetwood Town as we'll be watching them at Oxford United in midweek). Didn't get angry watching the nonsense as seen it all before. Watched the Sky highlights that DrDublin posted on here and replayed a few key moments just to get a clear idea of who was at fault for what and that yes, it was a bookable offence. Seven point gap with seven games keeps it at that point per game average oft talked about on here as a realisticly achievable benchmark for success, so I presume after midweek that more than a point per game will put that one to bed. But can we be surprised? What players are gonna be motivated to galvanise a late play-off push when it's been well publicised that a good chunk of them will be offloaded come what may? They're hardly likely to believe in themselves if they know the fans, the coaching staff & the board don't. They're being coached by the same staff that couldn't get much out of them all season, so any true improvement is only going to happen from pre-season onwards once the new structure & back-room staff is all in place. But, to return to the apathy, I'll leave this ramble with an 'oh well' a shrug of the shoulders (which I've done a few times this afternoon/evening) and a let's seee what happens in the shake-up ahead of the s**t-or-bust season...
