seems likely Davitt jumped the gun

we're probably still in negotiations with Webber (or Huddersfield?) so the board can't really say anything.
If they say "yes he's our man" and it falls through they look bad.
If they say "no, he isn't" and then appoint him they look bad.
Best to stay quiet.
