Take some money, preferably Euro

and toiletries, although you can buy them in specialist stores over there I believe. Try a little local lingo in casual conversation it helps enormously when abroad, for example; Italian for thank you is "Grazie!", when asking for the bill after a meal just shout out "Mussolini!" and Hello is "Stronzo!" Those three basics should get you through fine. bon voyage
