If there has been a "deluge" of applicants it should be a relatively easy job to sort out the wheat from the chaff. If you are dealt a hand of cards you can see the aces immediately. The City hierarchy are renowned for taking forever to come to a decision on anything important and then they still get it wrong - Glenn Roeder, Peter Grant, Bryan Gunn, Neil Adams, and Jez Moxey to name but a few. All I was suggesting in a veiled sort of way is that the ability to recognise available talent should be instinctive but it seems the more applications the Board receives for anything the greater the confusion. This is not unfair criticism - it's a statement of fact!
