What do you want a camera for?

Serious question.

If it's just holiday snaps for Facebook etc then your phone may well be as good as any cheap point & shoot camera.

Cameras are horses for courses- what canera you need depends on whether you're after something that's good for portrait or landscape or sports or low light or large sized prints etc etc.

If you just want an everyday camera for every day photos with the odd one to print and stick in a photo frame, just go to Jessops or any equivalent and buy whatever they have on offer that's in your price range and feels nice in your hands. Whatever that happens to be will be perfectly adequate for the job.
