OK, so...

I can train at NCFC with all the fringe benefits, or I can go to Yeovil Town (or wherever) for a 6 month relegation scrap.

Now unless I'm at an early stage of my career where first team football is attractive regardless of destination, or my next contract is only going to be at a club of that stature, I'm probably better off on a personal and career perspective by staying where I am. A stint at some lower league club is not going to be career enhancing for most, and most unwanted players aren't going to be sent to a division rival (Bassong being a very odd counterexample...)
