First Half: adequate but wasteful
Second Half: inept and insipid
Positives;
Ashton Gate is much improved since my last visit, even if it wins the prize for the smallest burger/tea bar (hatch) in an away end!
The Clifton Suspension Bridge looks lovely all lit up and spanning the Avon Gorge... clever bloke that Brunel.
Oh, and good to see Yanic get off the mark with a great strike and show a few glimpses to suggest that what is currently gritty and rough could turn into a shiny pearl.
Negatives;
McGovern made 3 or 4 great saves, but why did he have to against such a lightweight attack with such limited firepower!
Naismith and Murphy looked very lightweight themselves.
In the second half we were ineffectual and that caused us to drop deeper and bring Bristol on to us. Alex admitted that our attack was weak in 2nd half so why not replace Naismith or Murphy with Maddison? Could it really have been worse?!
Having to shore up the back with Bassong to avoid the ignominy of losing to a side who haven't won since the old king died!
Plus... it's peeing down, and having to drive past the Amex reminds me that the Tesco carrier bag wearers down the road will probably be in the Prem next season.
All part of the rich tapestry of football life with NCFC... even if sometimes someone has trodden in something nasty and walked it into that tapestry!
