Sounds like they may have waited till Sunday which was the last realistic chance of a play off position.

It's a pragmatic decision .. will avoid intense pressure to sack in the summer when our season fizzles out to finish 8th or 9th.

Neil can spin it as a step up (attendances), the board don't have to back down to fan pressure and save face by "reluctantly" letting him go.
