When there's f all traffic around, the lights respond to any kind of movement.

Once I was about 25m from the light and it was at red. A car approached from the lights adjacent. I obviously wasn't in view for the sensors. His light went from green to red and mine to green despite me not being close.

I went through the light about 10 seconds later, and all I could think about was what he was thinking. Ie, why did the light stop him for the sake of a cyclist 25m away

Depends how often you are out biking late at night. There's no paranoia at all
