We re still flat track bullies, we are underachieving and we have not yet proved, by beating a top six side, that we are over the hump.
However... I'm just not as fussed.
I suppose it all really depends on what football is FOR and what you get from the experience. As a season ticket holder, I have seen us win 11 games, score some remarkable sex goals and - occasionally - play some bloody good football.
The experience of going to Carrow Road this season has actually, in the main, been f**king fantastic. Me and the boy walk away from CR with a spring in our step and he just gabbles on about the sheer bloody joy of it all (as Yellalee and Jafski will testify). It's fun. The kind of fun that is a million, billion miles away from the turgid misery of the second Hoots season for example.
Now of course, I know that for fans who go away it probably all feels a little different. I also admit that I probably would have sacked Neil in December - but I've also said that I understand why he wasn't and entirely respect the decision. I'm content that the club is working hard to do the right thing and that they are taking our situation seriously.
It is really, really easy to keep saying the same things over and over and over again. We should be better, we could be better, Neil should do this, Neil could do that. But f**k it. The ball is round, this is not a compute simulation, these are real people with blood and legs and lungs and faults. I'm ok with it all. I'm ok. I'm not going to lose my s**t all the time because we have fallen below expectations.
I wish we hadn't, I'm not happy clapping, I wish we were better. But I really am ok with the fact that we're not. Because, well... football. Shit happens. Enjoy the ride. We're ok. We're not Ipswich etc.
