I could never understand why green tea in Chinese restaurants was always much nicer than the stuff I drank at home.
Turned out it was 2 things.
First, use jasmine green tea.
Second, don't use just boiled/boiling water. It makes it bitter. Use water that's cooled off a little (or put a dash of cold in the mug before you add the boiling water)
