I have no issue with people shooting for food - I eat meat myself after all and I'm under no illusions where it comes from.

I absolutely have an issue with people shooting for fun, foxhunting and so on (which has precisely zero to do with vermin control - though foxes are undeniably vermin).

If you want to have a go on a real gun you can trap shoot or go down the range or even just plink some tin cans I guess. No need whatsoever to kill something just for the sake of killing it. As I say, food is one thing but what you've found clearly isn't, and it's not OK.
