I really think this is the worst I've seen in 40 years! I really do! We were simply dreadful today. I don't care whether that was better than away performances at Reading or QPR or Luton it was utterly unacceptable. We are not Stockport or Rochdale or Blackpool! We are used to seeing teams pass the ball and at least try to keep it. What Worthington has done is assemble a bunch of non-footballers in midfield so that it just bounces off them, and their passing when they do manage to get control of the ball ensures that we lose it again! Our last two managers have been pretty incompetent tactically (understatement) and we are now paying the price for having a board made up of nice people who know absolutely nothing about football. We haven't had a good manager whilst this board has been in control so they really don't know what one is! I've said this before...Delia may have saved this club but her blind faith in a manager who is clearly a pleasant chap but simply not up to the job might yet destroy it. Oh my God do you remember when dave Stringer created a team from almost nothing that passed it's way to fourth in the top flight and the cup semi-final? Compare that to today's shambles. Earnshaw must be seriously regretting his move already whilst Ashton thanks the Lord he escaped from the control of such a poor manager. Look at what good managers can do with relatively ordinary players (Jewell, Parkinson, Coppell, Tilson, Allen, Newell, even Warnock!) and for goodness sake sit up and see that with a lot better resources this man has brought us to what I think is virtually an all-time low!
As far as criticism on this message board goes I think we need to keep it dignified if they are going to listen. No swearing, no abuse, no need even to call the manager silly names like 'Worthless'; what I want the board to know is that genuine, intelligent, rational, calm City loving supporters are really fed up with having to watch what is simply BAD football. We do deserve better (look at the crowds etc.) and there is (despite the fact that the players obviously go out on to the pitch) really only one person to blame. Please don't tell us about the need for stability; even a child can see that stability with the wrong person managing matters is not stability at all but simply deterioration..and the rate at which we have deteriorated in the last 18 months is more than alarming!
I suggest that if they won't listen we need a really unusual but peaceful protest on a mass scale. Such as at the end of the next home game (whatever the score) all City fans just stand in total silence for five minutes and refuse to move. Sounds daft but I reckon it would be more effective than a couple of hundred shouting abuse.
