Serious question.

Does the guy have to supply ID if asked by the Police in the UK?

Obviously these officers were out of order. Surely they could see he lived in the area and some of the stuff they were saying was utter bulls**t like he has keys....LOL....

Saying he assaulted them was f**king laughable.
Then not looking at his ID because they pretty much knew they had f**ked up at that stage.
