though Brady in front of him, with Brady at his best/most engaged, is easily not only our best left side but one of the best left sides in the division.
Brady has not been at his best most if not all of this season and, though I accept it's very hard to gauge this kind of thing as a fan, feels like a disruptive/non-constructive squad member somehow on top.
In a 4-x-x-x Olsson needs someone in front of him prepared to track back (I've never seen anyone other than Adam Drury play fullback successfully for us with a winger who didn't track back - Drury's contribution to our success with Hucks is often underestimated. Most left backs couldn't have handled it).
I think someone will come in with enough for Brady and I think despite all the above that if we're being offered £5m for Olsson it's probably right to take it - as long as (or, as us mathematicians say, if and only if) we have a very clear idea who will replace him.
I rate Toffolo maybe a bit more than AN does but I'm not convinced he's ready yet, and it's not clear to me who'll be in front of him and if that player will put the hard yards in when we lose possession in the other team's half of the pitch.
We do have too many players and we do need to offload some, especially the bigger earners, but we're not overserved on the left as it stands.
TLDR: we need a clear plan for our left flank - it's probably good business to sell Olsson and Brady, though I'd love Olsson to stay, but we need certainty on who will play on the left once he and probably Brady have both gone.
